Stop Using Makeup Wipes

1. Bad for the environment Normal makeup wipes, don’t break down once used. Even Bio-degradable take time to break down.

2. Does not remove all the makeup. It just moves the makeup and dirt around your face. It is better to have a double cleansing system. It’s better to go in with an oil cleanser, which will break down all your makeup and sunscreen. Then go in with a second cleanser which suits your skin type, this will get rid of the dirt, and other things that have built up during the day. Or use micellar water with a cotton pad to remove your makeup and then go in with your second cleanse.

3. Causes you to tug and rub on your skin, which can cause wrinkles and can cause irritation.

4. It’s not good to use around your eyes, in the long term it will cause you to get wrinkles and more fine lines.

New Products- I’ve Tried

Makeup Revolution CONCEAL & DEFINE INFINITE FIXING SPRAY

A new favourite helps my makeup last all day, it is mask proof, a dupe for the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray. It does not make look too matte or too glowy.

Makeup Revolution Infinite Universal Loose Setting Powder

A great alternative to the Laura Mercier Powder. This powder contains niacinamide, which helps with breakouts. The powder suits my skin tone(Medium-tan), it does not wash me out, look ashy or flashback. The powder does not make me look dry. I do have blot during the day, so it does not keep me matte all day.

Makeup Revolution Splendour Bronzer in Light

Not a bronzer for me, more of a contour shade. The compact is huge and it will last a long time. The product is pigmented, so I use it lightly.

Revolution X Roxxsaurus Blush Burst Face Palette

A great versatile palette, a has great blush shades that suit my skin tone. The blush is buildable.

Nars Soft Matte Complete Foundation

Full, natural-looking coverage. Comfortable 16-hour wear. Featuring NARS’ exclusive Anti-Oxidation Complex to help prevent colour shifting and to help protect skin from pollution and blue-light damage. Satisfying. Mattifying. The new take on matte. Available in 34 shades for all skin tones. Oxidation-resistant. Transfer-proof. Shine-proof.

I’m the shade Syracuse. The shade does not oxidize on me. The shade matches me really well. I do have to blot during the day, so it’s not shine proof.

My Current Makeup Routine

Primer- Ciate Watermelon Burst Hydrating Primer and elf cosmetics putty primer.

Spot Concealer- Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Caramel, my skin tone shade, I like to apply this in areas, scarring from breakouts.

Foundation- I like the morphe 2 hint hint skin tint, I like to build it to medium coverage.

Concealer- For my under eyes, I like to use a mixture of the elf camo hydrating concealer and the la girl pro concealer.

Powder- to set my face I use two powders, Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder and the no7 perfect light pressed powder. I put the loose powder first on my face and then the pressed powder.

Bronzer- I like to switch between two bronzers, Benefit Hoola bronzer in caramel and physicians formula butter bronzer in the shade deep.

Blush- I like to use the Nars orgasm blush on my cheeks, this acts as my blush and highlighter.

Eyebrows- I use a clear brow gel first, to brush my brows, then I use the elf brow pencil to fill in my brows and I set my brows with elf tinted brow gel.

Setting Spray- I use the Urban decay all nighter setting spray all over my face.

Mascara- I like to curl my lash first, then go in with the Maybelline Falsies Lash Lift Mascara, I use on my top and bottom lashes.

NYX 03 brush
Real Techniques Eyeshadow brush- That I use for Concealer
Primark Powder Brush
Morphe Bronzer Brush

THE WORST FOUNDATION I’VE EVER TRIED

Pur Cosmetics 4 in 1 Foundation

The medium to full coverage formula instantly disguises the appearance of blemishes and unevenness for a selfie-ready finish. With a wide selection of shades with both warm and cool undertones, this vegan foundation will instantly perfect your complexion so you can skip the filters.

My Thoughts on the Foundation-

Pros- Shade Range, packaging, coverage

Cons- This foundation caused my skin to get irritated and breakout. It did not last well on my skin, and felt heavy on my skin.

Overall my I did not like this foundation, and do not recommend it for someone with sensitive, dehydrated, combination skin. In my opinion this is the worst foundation I have ever tried.

Morphe Skin Tint 2

The claims of the skin tint-Lightweight, breathable formula

Hydrates, smooths, and blurs

Water-based formula

Noncomedogenic

Vegan

Keep it light and easy.

This hydrating fluid tint melts into skin while providing buildable, sheer-to-medium coverage. The naturally radiant finish lets your skin shine through while also smoothing and blurring imperfections. You’ll be looking fresh-faced with just a few drops.

My shade- Hint of Honey

Review-
I agree with the claims of the skin tint.
I built up the coverage to medium coverage and blended it in with a brush.
The formula is lightweight and breathable
For me, it does hydrate, smooth and blurs
The packaging is a dropper and the skin tint consistency is thin, so I would be careful with it
I do have combination skin, so I set the skin tint with a loose powder, pressed powder and setting spray. It lasts up to 12 hours on my skin
The skin tint looks like my skin but healthier.
All my other products blended well with the skin tint.
I would recommend this for anyone who does not like wearing foundation.

Shade 4W1
This foundation has an amazing shade range, you can get medium to full coverage, it has a satin finish, I don’t get very oily with foundation, you don’t need to use a lot to get full coverage, a little goes a long way. This foundation lasts well throughout the day and during the heat. I like using a beauty sponge to blend out the foundation.

3. Revolution Pro CC Cream Shade F11.2- A bit dark for me, so it’s my summer shade when I have a tan.
This foundation has an okay shade range it could use more shades and have more undertones. This foundation gives medium coverage, lasts well throughout the day and heat. This foundation gives a satin look. I do have blot twice throughout the day as I get a bit oily with this foundation. I like using a beauty sponge and brush to blend out the foundation.

NYX Born to Glow Foundation

Description- A featherweight base with a second-skin finish, NYX Professional Makeup’s Born to Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation comes in 45 shades and provides light-to-medium, buildable coverage so you can achieve the most natural look. Blending seamlessly, this light-diffusing formula creates a gorgeous, backlit glow – unifying skin tone as it grants a veil of dewy, fresh-faced make up that is nearly undetectable. It’s ideal for that ‘your skin, but better’ effect we all crave, and the flexible texture won’t cake or migrate as you go through the day looking beautifully luminous. Choose from ‘cool’, ‘neutral’ and ‘warm’ undertones for a flattering match, then just wait for the influx of compliments…

My Review-

My Skin Type- Combination, blemish prone and sensitive.

Pros- Affordable it’s £10, a range of shades and undertones, most shades available in stores

Cons- The packaging, I prefer a pump.

How it Wore on my Skin-

The foundation matched my skin tone well, I use the shade Camel.

The foundation is easy to blend, I used a beauty sponge to blend in the foundation.

I prime with the milk makeup hydro grip primer, and I set my face with the Laura mercier loose powder in translucent and mac studio fix powder plus foundation. All other powder products e.g. bronzer all blend on top really well, none of the products were patchy.

It gives a medium coverage, and I spot conceal any other places that need extra coverage. The foundation lasts well through out the day, I do have to blot at least once throughout the day. On my skin the foundation lasts up to 12 hours.

The foundation does give me a radiant natural look, it does not make me look oily.

I would recommend this foundation for my skin type and for my fellow brown girls.

Tips for self isolating

Remember to wash your hands for 20-30 seconds with hand wash

Recommendations for hand cream- I would recommend anything from the Palmer’s range or Garnier range.

Create a schedule – if you’re working from home, doing your school work.

Do things that you wouldn’t normally have time for – for example, I’m decluttering and organizing my room, sorting out my makeup, skincare, clothes, shoes and jewelry, washing my makeup brushes,

Self reflect – Start a journal, meditation

Create a workout routine – I will be working out 3-4 days a week in the morning

Remember to healthy balanced meals, have vitamin c supplements to boost immune system

Learn new recipes, bake

Start a new tv show or re-watch a tv show, watch movies

Only go out if it’s essential e.g. weekly grocery shop, going out for a walk or to collect food takeaway

Use the time to spend time with your family or friends (if you live with them) – you could play board games, do puzzles, listen to music, watch movies and tv shows.

If you have no symptoms, still keep a social distance, if you have any elderly neighbor’s or NHS workers that might need help with their grocery shopping, help them.

Please DON’T stock pile, it’s selfish and it doesn’t leave enough for people who are living pay cheque to pay cheque, or NHS workers who work in shift patterns, the elderly who a vulnerable to Covid-19 and England is not running out of food and toilet roll supplies, they will if you keep stock piling. Grocery stores will stay open when gyms, restaurants, pubs, leisure centres, bars and clubs are closed. Some restaurants will stay open only for takeaway.

How I Choose My Foundation and Concealer

Foundation-

Skin tone- My skin tone is a medium-tan shade.

Undertones- I always go for a yellow/golden undertone and I can tell that’s my undertone by the colour of my veins.

Skin type- I have combination skin, my t-zone is oily, and the rest of my face can be normal to oily.

The method I use to match myself- I swatch the foundation on my jawline and blend it down to my neck and if the shade matches, I use that shade.

Foundation Finish- I mainly look for glowy and satin finishes.

Price- I mainly look at drugstore foundation, and sometimes high-end when they are on offer.

Concealer-

Shade- I look for a shade that is slightly lighter than my foundation.

Finish- I look for a full coverage, easy to blend and a luminous matte finish.

Price- At the moment I like high-end concealer’s because of the shades and available and I get them when they are on offer. (Do you guys recommend any drugstore concealer’s available at boots or superdrug?)

My Current Favourite Foundation’s and Concealer’s- Nars Sheer Glow, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place, L’oreal Infallible 24hr Fresh wear, Fenty Beauty Soft Matte Foundation, Huda Beauty Overachiever Concealer, LA Pro Girl Concealer and Elf Hydrating Satin Camo Concealer.

Where I Buy Foundation and Concealer- lookfantastic.com, superdrug, boots.
